NEW JERSEY—A deer who was shot with an arrow is doing remarkably well after wildlife rescuers removed the object from its face.

A homeowner immediately called for help after the animal, with an arrow protruding its face, wandered into her backyard. Rescuers said somehow the arrow missed all major arteries and managed to remove it safely.

The homeowner said the lucky deer has been back to the home for corn and appears to be doing just fine.
