WEST, Texas -- An official with the Texas Department of Public Safety held a press conference just after midnight Thursday to describe the damages following the plant explosion.

D.L. Wilson with DPS said over 100 people were injured following Wednesday's explosion at West Fertilizer.

Officials would not say how many confirmed deaths there were, but said at least 50-75 homes were damaged. An apartment complex with 50 units was destroyed and a nursing home with 133 residents was damaged. Wilson did not describe the extent of damages.

Through the night law enforcement will check house by house for unaccounted for residents.

Officials plan to hold another press conference Thursday morning.
