HOUSTON —There were some tense moments at a Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse on Wednesday after a man authorities identified as a customer allegedly carried a hand grenade into the store.
It happened just after 1 in the afternoon at the business located along Highway 6 in northwest Harris County.
According to authorities, the man was shopping at the store when he walked up to an employee and said he had a grenade.
Then he allegedly stashed the ordinance in a stack of lumber and continued to shop.
Authorities were called and the store was evacuated.
Harris County Sheriff’s deputies located the grenade and determined that it was hollow and not live.
The customer was questioned and later released.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office refused to press charges.
The customer refused to do an interview.
There’s still no word on why he allegedly carried the grenade into the store.
