EVERETTE, Washington — Heavy rain north of Seattle triggered a mudslide on a hundred-foot cliff that knocked seven cars of a passing freight train off the rails.
Someone in a nearby vehicle heard it happened and starting recording video on their cell phone.
A railway spokesman said the slide happened Monday afternoon in the same area where a slide covered the tracks earlier in the day. Seven cars were derailed.
A hazardous materials team responded, but officials said there was no threat to the environment or nearby residents.
No injuries were reported.
