A woman led Pearland police on a brief high-speed chase that ended when she crashed.

PEARLAND, Texas – A woman led police on a brief high-speed chase in Pearland Friday afternoon.

Officers say they tried to pull her over on a routine traffic stop in the 8300 block of Broadway. She stopped, but then sped off when the officer approached her vehicle.

The suspect headed southbound on Cullen. At one point, she went through a school parking lot before exiting onto Fite Road.

The chase ended when the woman lost control and crashed into a drainage ditch near the 2400 block of Covington Way.

Police say she was taken to an area hospital with a possible broken leg and other injuries.

No one else was hurt.

The suspect’s name hasn’t been released.
