HOUSTON – More than a thousand Catholics took to the streets of downtown to walk and perform in the procession celebrating the Feast of Our Lady Guadalupe Sunday afternoon.
The procession started at 1700 San Jacinto and concluded at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The annual city-wide celebration is in its 37th year as many pay devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas.
This is one of the largest celebrations of its kind within the Hispanic Catholic community in the United States.
The event was sponsored by the Guadalupana Association of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, which will commemorate the official church feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 12.
