A cat in California may have used a few of his nine lives after he became a surprise passenger on his family’s RV trip.

Workers at an RV store were surprised to find a cat named Max on top of a trailer they were performing maintenance on.

It turns out Max’s owners didn’t realize their cat had snuck onto the top of their trailer before they hit the road for the 60 mile trip to have the work done.

“It was wedged behind an air conditioner and had a satellite dome in front of it - so that kind of gave him some protection there. So it’s sitting there, looking terrified and mad at the world,” Andrew Weston, who rescued the cat, said.

“So many chances for that cat to die that day and what a happy ending,” he added.

Max is back home, making the return trip inside the family car.
