HOUSTON—A pit bull in a crashed car caused a delay in east Houston Friday morning because nobody wanted to remove the animal from the car.

A teenage driver lost control and crashed into another car in the Washburn Tunnel around 7 a.m. The teen abandoned his car, but left the dog behind, according to Houston police.

The car was towed out of the tunnel, but police had to call animal control to safely remove the dog from the vehicle.

The teen and the dog were both taken into custody.
