HOUSTON – The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who is suspected of purchasing items with a fraudulent credit card.
The financial information was stolen from a Harris County District court judge via a “skimming” device in February. The device allows thieves to illegally copy information from the magnetic strip on the back of a debit or credit card.
Investigators said the stolen information was electronically entered onto a fraudulent credit card that the suspect used to purchase gift cards at two northwest Houston Walmart stores.
The purchases took place at the stores located on 12353 FM 1960 and 7075 FM 1960. Walmart surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect during the purchase and as he exited the store.
Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identity and arrest of the suspect.
