HOUSTON—Traffic was backed up Tuesday afternoon on Highway 288 after a school bus crashed into another school bus.
It happened around 1:45 p.m. on the southbound side near the Holly Hall street exit.
Three Angleton ISD buses were following each other as they returned from a field trip, police said. When the first bus hit the brakes to avoid an accident the second one also stopped, but the third bus could not stop in time.
Police said 74 junior high students were checked out at the scene, but no one was hurt.
“(The) bus driver is fine. All the students are reported as fine and headed home,” said Steve Davis, the assistant superintendent of Angleton ISD.
The teacher notified parents over the phone.
The first bus, and another school bus in the area, helped take all of the kids back to school.
