HOUSTON –- A man was killed in a hit-and-run incident in east Houston, and now police are trying to figure out if it was really an accident or not.
Homicide detectives with the Houston Police Department said the incident happened around midnight Tuesday as the victim walked with two friends on Woolworth Street north of I-10.
A small white car turned onto Woolworth and struck the man, throwing him into a ditch. The car then sped away. The victim was sent to the hospital where he later died.
Police searched overnight for the suspect’s car, which sustained front-end damage and a cracked windshield.
The victim’s friends told police an hour before the incident the trio got into a fight with someone else, but police don’t know if the fight was connected to the hit-and-run. HPD said the man’s death may just be a coincidence.
