HOUSTON —- Police overnight were investigating what events led up to the fatal shooting of a woman in her sport utility vehicle in southwest Houston.
Officers with the Houston Police Department said it was around 11 p.m. Thursday when a woman in her 40s was found dead in her Nissan SUV on Birdwood near Renwick.
Detectives said the woman was parked in the road for unknown reasons when someone opened fire and sped away. Police believe the panicked woman put her vehicle in reverse, and it continued to roll backward into a small grass field along Renwick. She died at the scene.
There were no witnesses to the shooting, but police said those who heard the shots later saw a Chevrolet Tahoe speeding from the scene.
