HOUSTON -- Police said two men possibly involved in a rash of southwest Houston robberies were on the run late Wednesday after being spotted driving a stolen car.
The Houston Police Department said it was around 11 p.m. when an officer tried to stop the car on Beechnut near Fondren for a traffic violation. The men inside led the officer on a chase through several neighborhoods at a high rate of speed.
Eventually the driver turned down Tanager, reaching a dead end at Pella. Police said the driver put the stolen car in reverse and rammed the officer’s vehicle before both men inside jumped out and ran through a bayou full of water.
The men then ran through an apartment complex to evade police.
Police later determined the vehicle was stolen, along with wallets and credit cards, during an aggravated robbery on March 3.
HPD said the men may be involved in an ongoing ring of burglaries and robberies in that area.
