HOUSTON – Several crooks smashed a vehicle into the front of a Valero store near Reliant Park early Thursday, police said.

It happened around 4 a.m. in the 8300 block of Knight Road.

Police said the smash-and-grab suspects caused plenty of damage but couldn’t get the store’s ATM. They gave up and fled the scene.

Workers were in the store at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Surveillance cameras captured the crime on video, but a suspect description was not immediately released.

Earlier in the morning another smash-and-grab was reported on the northwest side of town. The burglars in that case managed to get away with the ATM before ditching their truck.
