HOUSTON – Three men robbed workers at a north Houston fast food restaurant overnight, smashing glass and taking money from a safe, Houston police said.
The crime happened at the Popeyes in the 4900 block of Airline Drive around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses told police three men pulled up to the closed restaurant and threw a brick through a side window. One of the men waited outside while the other two went in with bandannas over their face.
The men then held employees at gunpoint.
“They had pistols and were yelling ‘someone open the safe, open the safe!’” one of the workers told KHOU 11 News.
The men took thousands from the safe before escaping in a dark-colored Dodge Charger.
No injuries were reported.
