HOUSTON – Residents say criminals in Kingwood are targeting their community and they want to know why. Even police say robberies are up and it is becoming a crime hot spot.

Residents packed a monthly public safety meeting.

“We’re sending out patrol units during what we have identified as peak crime periods,” said Capt. Matt May.

There are 79 HPD officers in the Kingwood area, and they are increasing their presence around banks.

Residents stated that with the increase in population, they need more officers.
