MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A motorcyclist accused of trying to outrun Houston police was killed in a crash in Montgomery County early Thursday.

It happened shortly before 7 a.m. on East Martin Drive a few blocks east of the Eastex Freeway.

An officer with the Houston Police Department spotted the suspect, 24-year-old Marcus Davis, heading north on Interstate 59 going so fast it wasn’t safe to pull him over until he slowed and got off at Northpark.

But, instead of stopping, Davis raced north on Loop 494.

At Martin Road, witnesses didn’t hear sirens. They just saw flashing lights and the suspect ran a red light.

Davis clipped the back passenger side of a Ford Mustang driven by Santo Reya. Davis died instantly.

Reya’s Mustang then hit Oralia Lopez’s black pickup. She was on her way to work when the accident happened.

“That motorcycle was coming really, really fast,” Carlos Garcia, a witness, said.

No other serious injuries were reported.

“She didn’t know what happened. It happened in an instant,” Rosalinda Munoz, the Lopez’s daughter, said.
