HOUSTON -- An eviction notice led to a disturbing discovery inside a southwest Houston apartment.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputies went to serve and eviction notice Thursday afternoon and found a severely disabled girl in the apartment all alone.

The girl was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital and her mother, 21-year-old LaTasha Davidson is now in jail and charged with child endangerment

The family lives at the Crossing at Sedona Square Apartments in the 9700 block of on Court Glen.

Deputy constables arrived to serve the eviction notice around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. When they entered, they found the 4-year-old girl in a crib. She was hooked up to a ventilator and a feeding tube.

“I didn’t’ know little kids stayed in there,” neighbor Sarah Stewart said.

Another neighbor, who asked not to be identified, was sympathetic.

“I know the kid has specials needs, so she probably went to the car and came back right quick,” he said. “She’s not the type of person to neglect her kids.”

The mother returned about 30 minutes after deputies arrived with her two other children. It is not clear where they went.

“I got little girls,” said neighbor Aisha Robinson said. “I never leave ‘em alone. At all. Ever.”

Doctors are running full diagnostics on the girl. Her condition is a result of congenital defects.

Her one and three-year-old siblings are staying with relatives while CPS investigates.
