MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Five robbers dressed in white hazmat suits pulled off a daring robbery and escape at a jewelry store in The Woodlands late Monday, deputies said.
It was just after 7:25 p.m. when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a silent distress call from an employee inside Jared’s on Lake Woodlands Drive.
The first deputies on the scene found the suspects’ white Ford sedan still parked out front with its doors open, but the robbers were already gone.
Deputies said the suspects came into the store and ordered all the employees onto the ground. The group then smashed cases and took an undetermined amount of jewelry. Two of the robbers had guns.
Detectives said the crime was well-timed, and the group was only in the store for less than a minute. The suspects left behind the vehicle they arrived in and went to a nearby gas station parking lot where a SUV was waiting for them.
“They crossed over Lake Woodlands into the Exxon parking lot across the street, entered a GMC Yukon with paper plates, and left heading north on Six Pines,” detective John Schmitt told KHOU 11 News.
One mom in the store said her 9-year-old was shaken up by the event, but no injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
