HOUSTON—Houston police were searching for a man after his roommate was found lying dead in a street on the south side of town early Wednesday.

According to the Houston Police Department, someone called 911 around 1:40 a.m. after finding the man’s body in the 9800 block of Forum Park Drive near Bissonnet Street. He had been shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there were no witnesses to the actual shooting, but they want to talk to the victim’s roommate as a person of interest. Neighbors said they heard the pair fighting shortly before the shooting occurred.

Homicide detectives are looking for clues at both scenes – where the body was found and where the man was shot.

Friends of the victim were devastated.

Friends say the victim did not appear to have any issues with his roommate.

“He’s a good person, I mean, he didn’t have no reason to die,” said Keisha Johnson. “Like he don’t be hitting no licks, he don’t sell no drugs, he don’t do nothing.”

“To find out it’s my friend, a close friend that sits around us every day and now, we can’t even see him,” said Deshon Manley. “We can’t talk to him, ain’t no calling his phone. We can’t even hear the voice mail or nothing.”

The killing has residents afraid.

“I’m moving out of here immediately. This is the second killing since I’ve been here. I’ve been here four months. I have a 70-year-old mother who lives around the corner and I’m hardly ever at home,” a resident who wishes to remain anonymous said. “I want to get out of here, me and my mother both. It’s just too dangerous here.”

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
