HOUSTON -- A suspected drunken driver led police on a chase overnight; at one point he even drove in circles around a city block, Houston police said.
According to officers with the Houston Police Department, the chase started on W. Bellfort Avenue and Stella Link Road. Around 1:15 a.m. Thursday an officer attempted to pull over a car, but the driver took off, police said.
The driver went eastbound on the South Loop and then got on Telephone Road. He led police on several side streets before going back to the South Loop where he went in circles around a block.
Eventually the suspect went down Office City Drive where he was boxed in by police. The driver jumped out and tried to run away but was caught, HPD said.
Police said the car was not stolen, but they found a lot of beer in the vehicle. The driver faces charges of felony evading and driving while intoxicated.
A passenger was also in the vehicle. There was no word on if that person would face any charges.
