HOUSTON – A Highlands teacher who pleaded guilty to two counts of indecency with a child was sentenced Monday to ten years of probation.

Prosecutors said Norman Christopher Slaughter, 46, sexually molested two young girls years ago when they were students at Highlands Elementary School.  Investigators confirmed that Slaughter was the health, math, science and social studies teacher for both girls.

Instead of serving jail time, Slaughter was sentenced to probation and must register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors said the families involved agreed to the deal, but one father now says he wishes he’d made a different choice.

“He may have got probation out of this, and all this crap, but that’s not good enough for somebody who does that to a little girl—I mean that’s sad,” he said.

The victim’s father said he hopes, if there are other victims, they would come forward to bring new charges that could put Slaughter away.
