HOUSTON -- Police early Tuesday continued their search for the suspect who they said shot a driver up to eight times as he ran from his car in south Houston.
It happened around 11 p.m. Monday on Foster Street at Yellowstone Boulevard, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said three men and one woman were inside a car talking when one of the passengers pulled out a gun and started yelling at the driver. Witnesses told police the passenger then started firing, shooting the driver. The driver jumped out and ran, but the suspect also go out and continued firing shots.
The suspect then ran away as the shooting victim was sent to the hospital.
“It’s unknown right now what was the cause of the altercation,” said HPD Detective C. Cegielski. “The complainant was transported to Ben Taub in, I believe right now, critical condition. That’s the only information I have.”
No other injuries were reported.
At least one witness told detectives the suspect was heard shouting, “You killed my friend!”
A description of the shooter was not available. A K9 unit searched the area but didn’t turn up anything.
