HOUSTON – Police said early Tuesday the driver of a pickup truck smashed into the glass storefront of a check cashing business on Houston’s north side in an attempt to steal its ATM.

It happened on Airline Drive at Little York Road in the early morning hours, Houston police said. Several security cameras in the store caught the incident on video.

Police said the suspect used a white truck to break into the store, causing significant damage. The suspect then tried to take the ATM, but it was mounted to the ground.

Workers at the store told KHOU 11 News the machine didn’t even have any cash in it at the time.

Police said security video and a description of the suspect may come out later in the day Tuesday.
