HOUSTON -- A man was shot in the head in a south Houston neighborhood late Thursday night, and now police are looking for the shooter.
It was around 11:30 p.m. the first 911 call was placed from a home on Safeguard Street near Holloway Drive, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, the victim was standing outside a home he shares with his grandmother when someone pulled up and opened fire. The victim was shot twice in the head, and he was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
Neighbors in the South Acres community told police they saw a mysterious white car circling the block before they heard the shots.
“Upon HPD’s arrival they observed a black male that was down at the location adjacent to a black Pontiac Bonneville that’s here at the scene,” said Brian Evans with HPD Homicide. “The residents across the street did advise they heard three shots being fired. At this point in time Homicide is conducting a thorough investigation.”
Early Friday morning, detectives were still looking over clues at the scene, including a sedan parked near where the shooting occurred.
Investigators said a motive in the crime wasn’t immediately known.
