HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– Deputies said three suspected burglars were taken into custody early Monday after a failed attempt to steal a safe at a north side corner store.

Deputies were called to the 2400 block of Little York Road before sunrise after an alarm went off. They said three men were caught stealing from the registers inside a convenience store.

Investigators said the store had burglar bars on the front, so the suspects first broke into a neighboring check cashing business. They then smashed a hole from one business into the other, making a mess and causing damage.

The men were apparently going after a safe located in a currency exchange stand, but they couldn’t move it.

Instead they took at least a thousand dollars from the store’s registers.

All three were arrested at the scene, deputies said.
