HPD: Two in critical condition after motorcycle skids into wood post

HOUSTON- A motorcyclist and passenger are in critical condition after skidding into a wood post  Friday night in northwest Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Thornwall Street at Underhill Street when a male motorcyclist with a  female passenger were traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police said the driver apparently didn't realize the road curved sharply. He couldn't make the turn and skidded into a wood post.

Both riders were not wearing a helmet.  They suffered major injuries and head injuries.

They were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

HPD will be testing the driver to determine if alcohol was a factor.
