Innocent driver killed in fiery wrong-way crash

HOUSTON - A fiery wrong-way crash killed an innocent driver on Highway 225 early Friday, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. near Allen Genoa.

Police say a wrong-way driver in a Ford F-150 struck the victim's vehicle head-on in the eastbound lanes.

The innocent driver, who was in a Kia Optima, died at the scene. The alleged wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

All traffic was forced off at Allen Genoa. The freeway fully reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

No charges have been filed at this time as investigators are awaiting results of a mandatory blood draw, the Houston Police Department says.
