Carjacker takes police on wild chase

HOUSTON -- A man is in jail after he took police on a wild chase in northwest Houston.
Police said the man carjacked a family with two small kids on Irvington and took off. The suspect didn’t hurt the family, but he did take the police on a chase.
He ended up slamming into a shopping center. But in doing so, he hit a gas pipeline, causing gas to leak out.
All the restaurants in the strip center had to be evacuated.
The gas was eventually turned off and the man was arrested.
