HOUSTON – Hundreds of eager shoppers kicked off Black Friday at the Westheimer Toys R' Us. They spent the morning scouring the store for good deals.

For many, this was just the beginning of their shopping day.

“I think I have two more stops after this. Then I'll head home,” said Kate Hardin, shopper.

At Best Buy, Black Friday kicked off in style.  One lucky man won a thousand dollar shopping spree just for camping out the night before.

“I entered a little essay about how we camped out all year with our big screen TV and Xbox. They selected us and told us we were the Grand Prize winner,” said Jonathan Heller.

Best Buy shoppers scooped up tech deals which included blu-ray players and flat-panel televisions.

People seemed determined not to let the economy drag down the holidays. But to give shoppers every option, some retailers like Sears have brought back their layaway terms.  This allows shoppers pay in small chunks.
