Dead dogs found in recycling bin; officials launch animal cruelty investigation

12:02 PM CST on Friday, November 21, 2008

By JIM DOUGLAS / WFAA-TV

FORT WORTH - A gruesome discovery has led to an animal cruelty investigation in Fort Worth.

A Fort Worth city team was inspecting recycling bins when they found four dead dogs in a container on Arbor Avenue. After the owner was tracked down, he told authorities someone was supposed to be looking after his dogs while he was out of town.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the any of the dogs, which included an adult male and female pit bull and two small puppies.

"We'll continue to look at the animals and look at the circumstance until we're satisfied that we've reached a conclusion," said Dave Fulbright, Fort Worth control supervisor. "And when I say we, I mean us and the police."
