KEMAH — A 16-year-old boy allegedly shot his father twice in the head during an argument at their Kemah home on Sunday afternoon, and when confronted by police, turned the gun on himself.

The boy and his father were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said.

Their conditions were not known Sunday, but it appeared neither one would survive, Tuttoilmondo said.

Police are not releasing their names pending further investigation.

It’s not known what the two were arguing about when the boy allegedly shot his father in front of his mother inside their home on Lazy Lane, an unincorporated area between Kemah and Clear Lake Shores, Tuttoilmondo said.

A Clear Lake Shores officer confronted the son shortly after the shooting, and the boy shot himself in the head, Tuttoilmondo said.
