Storms bring cooler temps to Houston area
01:19 PM CST on Wednesday, November 12, 2008
HOUSTON – Cooler weather blanketed Southeast Texas Wednesday afternoon after a line of thunderstorms blew through the area.
The overnight storms spawned tornado warnings and dumped heavy rain, and they came after a long day of rain Tuesday.
Overnight, high water was reported at the North Freeway at Gulf Bank and Tidwell, as well as at North Victory and North Shepherd.
High water at the North Freeway feeder between Yale and Tidwell stranded some cars.
Paul said those storms were out over the Gulf by early afternoon, and they won’t be back.
The skies were supposed to get a little sunny after the storms cleared, but the clouds stuck around.
Paul said that since the skies stayed overcast, the temperatures would be a little cooler than he originally predicted.
Paul said the high would be 76, and he lowered the rain chances to 30 percent.
“More clouds, less heat means less energy for storms to re-form as the next disturbance moves in,” Paul said. “So we’ve lowered rain chances for tonight and tomorrow, but we still may see a little bit of rain around here.”
The fall weather is supposed to stick around for a while.
Paul said there could be lows in the 50s and maybe even the 30s by Sunday morning.
