Safety advocates offer parenting advice to avoid more hot car deaths
04:02 PM CDT on Sunday, October 19, 2008
HOUSTON – More and more children have lost their lives this year after being forgotten in a hot car by their parents or relatives.
That’s why Sunday safety advocates with the Lacombe Foundation showed parents in north Houston how to avoid making these fatal mistakes.
They gave safety tips and offered electronic devices that help parents avoid leaving their children in a car by accident.
One device attaches to the key ring and alerts parents when they move away from the car seat.
Earlier this month a 7-month-old girl died after being left in the parking lot of Rucker Elementary School. Her grandfather accidentally left her in his car.
No charges have been filed in the case.
