Bolivar residents getting power in November

05:16 PM CDT on Saturday, October 11, 2008

KHOU.com staff report

BOLIVAR PENINSULA - The Bolivar Peninsula was one of the areas that suffered some of the worst damage during Hurricane Ike.

Much of the infrastructure was destroyed by the storm surge along with many homes and businesses. But county officials said the peninsula could have electricity and water service as soon as early November.

However, power meters have been removed from the homes in the area and owners must pay to replace them.  They will also need to have their homes inspected before the electricity is turned on.
