HOUSTON -- Houston’s airports are facing a hefty price tag to repair damage caused by Hurricane Ike.
In total, the storm caused about $23 million in damage to the area’s three airports.
At Bush Intercontinental, the damage was estimated at $4.8 million. That includes repair work for the customs inspection area, dealing with roof and water damage in Terminal C and water damage in the peoplemover in Terminal B.
At Hobby, repairs will cost about $9.5 million. The central concourse is in need of $3.5 million in repairs because of water damage. Hangars and the upper U-ramp in front of the terminal make up the additional damage costs.
At Ellington Field, Ike inflicted about $4 million in damages.
That includes roof and water damage to several buildings.
At all airports, the repairs are expected to take 6 to 8 months.
