CLEVELAND, Texas – Earlier on Tuesday an Amber Alert was been issued for four children who were abducted along with their mother. The five were taken from their grandparents’ home in Cleveland, but they have since been found.

The children were thought to have been abducted by their father, 24-year-old Ramiro Contreras, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Police said three people were shot at the home and taken to local hospitals. It was unclear the extent of their injuries.

Police say the four Contreras children were staying with their mother, Amy Contreras, at their maternal grandparents’ home. At roughly 5 a.m., Ramiro Contreras came to the house brandishing a gun.

Shots were reportedly fired in the house and the grandfather ran to a neighbor’s and called 911.

The four children are 1-year-old Isabel, 2-year-old Abigail, 3-year-old Ray Alexander and Helena Contreras, whose age is unknown.

Both the mother and the children are safe.

The suspect is still at large and police report he could be driving four possible vehicles, including a 1999 silver Ford Escort. It was just purchased and has paper plates with an expiration date of 10-20. The second vehicle is a green 1998 Ford Expedition with the Texas license plate number 07DHTS. Another possible vehicle is a maroon 2002 Grand Am with the license plate FXV 969. The fourth possible car is a four-door, burgundy Oldsmobile Alero, license plate FFS944.
