HOUSTON -- A spokesperson from the Houston Independent School District said 50 percent of the district’s 300 schools will reopen on Tuesday, September 23. 

"We're going to reopen schools as we get power.  Whatever schools are ready by 5 p.m. Tuesday, will open on Thursday with the staff coming in on Wednesday,” said Norm Uhl of HSID.

The district will continue this every other day cycle until everyone is back. They anticipate all children will be back in school by Monday, September 29.

"The other thing parents need to know, is that for at least the first two weeks all children will get free breakfast and lunch," said Uhl.
