HOUSTON – Houston police want motorists to remember to drive carefully as many lights around the city still aren’t working.

Traffic lights with no power may be to blame for a fatal accident in Southwest Houston last night.

A minivan was going north on Eldridge when it hit a car going west on Richmond. The female driver in the car died on the way to the hospital. Her daughter and the driver of the minivan were transported to W. Houston Memorial Hospital.

Officers say you need to treat intersections as four way stops, yielding to those who arrive at the stop first.

The Houston Police Department is also urging drivers to leave for their destinations earlier than normal so there is plenty of time to get there.
