RAYMONDVILLE, Texas  -- South Texas authorities are investigating whether an arm found in a canal belonged to a 68-year-old Mission woman whose husband and stepson have been charged in her death.

Josefina Lugo has been missing since August 23rd. Three days after her disappearance, Willacy County officials found an arm in a canal near Raymondville.

An Hidalgo County grand jury indicted Lugo’s husband, Pedro Lugo, and stepson, Javier Lugo, on murder charges Thursday. Javier Lugo also faces two counts of tampering with evidence. A jail official declined to say whether they had attorneys.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence told the Valley Morning Star in Harlingen that authorities will use DNA tests to determine whether the arm could have belonged to the missing woman.

Court records indicate Josefina Lugo had filed for divorce July 10th .
