HOUSTON -- The Harris County Office of Emergency Management will continue preparing for Hurricane Gustav on Sunday, but based on store traffice, Houstonians are already stocking up on supplies. Items such as bottled water, batteries, and gasoline were in demand on Saturday.

Stores can expect even more business on Sunday, and so can local hotels.

Mayor Bill White said Houston hotels are only 70 percent occupied, leaving room for evacuees needing a place to stay.

"Houston is prepared to help our neighbors who need shelter. We have a lot of hotel rooms in this area, and we have a lot of people who have friends and relatives," said Mayor Bill White.

The mayor's also warned businesses not to take advantage of the situation by hiking prices.  He said anyone who feels they've been gouged should contact city officials.
