Many businesses, colleges and facilities are closing as Tropical Storm Edouard continues to head towards our area.
The following is a list of confirmed closings and openings:
The Houston Ship Channel is opening for business today.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School located in Richwood: Summer Camp program and school offices will open Wednesday, August 6.
Harris County Hospital District will resume normal operations at 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 6.
Pasadena Health Center has opened and is one of the only clinics open for people who might need help Tuesday, August 5. PHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and takes walk-in patients.
Houston Community College is closed and classes have been canceled for Tuesday, August 5. All facilities and classes will resume to normal hours Wednesday, August 6.
LaPorte: Due to the increased risk of flooding city services will be suspended for the remainder of today. City offices will remain closed on Tuesday, August 5. Garbage services will resume on Thursday, August 7.
Humble ISD is closed Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Will be OPEN on Wednesday, August 6, as originally scheduled.
Willis ISD student registration is canceled for Tuesday and will resume Wednesday.
All Katy ISD student and staff development activities scheduled for August 5 are cancelled. Although a two-hour delay in start time had been announced, employees are asked to report to work as soon as they can.
Channelview ISD will be closed Tuesday, August 5, 2008, and will resume normal operations on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
Northwest Assistance Ministries, 15555 Kuykendahl, will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 5, due to Tropical Storm Edouard. NAM Resale Shop and Donation Centers at 3645 FM 1960 and 10505 Jones Road at Fallbrook also are closed. NAM offices and resale shops will reopen for regular hours Wednesday.
Due to impending weather conditions from Tropical Storm Edouard, the Children’s Museum of Houston and staff offices will be CLOSED today, Aug. 5.
Pearland ISD administrative offices and campuses will be closed today, August 5, due weather conditions created by Tropical Storm Edouard. As a result, district employees should not report to work today. Normal office and campus hours will resume Wednesday, August 6. We ask our employees to return safely to us then.
The Learning Academy at Gulf Bank is closed Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Edouard.
Ascension Episcopal School will be closed Tuesday due to weather.
North Forest ISD administrative offices and all campuses will be closed Tuesday due to weather. The district will reopen on 8/6/08.
The University of Texas Health Science Center will be closed on Tuesday. Campus is expected to re-open Wednesday at 6 a.m.
The Houston Zoo will be closed to the public on Tuesday.
Diamond A-Cat-A-ME will be closed today due to the weather.
The Houston Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Customers can visit the Library's Web site for more information on the Library's regular hours of service and notices about reopening, found at www.houstonlibrary.org.All City of Pasadena facilities are expected to be closed on Tuesday, including municipal court. Also city trash service
The University of Phoenix - Houston campus has canceled all calsses at the Clear Lake Learning Center for Tuesday. Administrative offices will also be closed. The Westside, Northwest and West Loop locations will re-open at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Students and staff may call the university hotline (888) 276-9119.
The Creme de la Creme campuses downtown Houston, Town and Country and in the Memorial area will be closed on Tuesday.
All student activities and staff development sessions in the Lamar Consolidated ISD are canceled for Tuesday.
All three Houston-area Everest Institute campuses will be closed on Tuesday.
Big Dreams and Lil Wonders Christian Academy will be closed on Tuesday.
The Kids R Kids early childhood centers at Legends, Valleywood and Squyres will be closed on Tuesday.
All City of Houston pools, golf courses, community centers, skate parks and the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center are closed on Tuesday. All Summer Enrichment camps are also canceled on Tuesday.
M.D. Anderson's Cancer Center will close for patient appointments on Tuesday. M.D. Anderson Hospital remains open, but family members of patients are urged to stay at home during the storm.
Rice University will be closed on Tuesday.
All Galveston County offices, including courts and jury service will be closed on Tuesday and will re-open on Wednesday.
Houston School of Floral Design closed on Tuesday.
Spring Branch ISD will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 5, due to Tropical Storm Edouard. All student activities and staff development scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled. Essential personnel only are required to report to work.
Klein ISD has closed all of its schools and cancelled all student activities and all staff development for Tuesday, August 5.
The College of Biblical Studies will be closed on Tuesday. Classes and operations will resume on Wednesday.
St. Mark Lutheran School and summer camp programs will be closed all day Tuesday.
The City of Galveston announced several closings. City Hall in Galveston will be closed on Tuesday. Trash pick-up in Galveston will be suspended on Tuesday. Wright Cuney Recreation Center will close at 8 p.m. on Monday and will remain closed until further notice. Island Transit has suspended its bus and trolly service starting at 11 p.m. on Monday and until further notice. Scholes International Airport will cease operations once tropical storm force winds are evident. The airport will only re-open after the storm passes and all runways and facilities have been inspected.
All Lone Star College System facilities will close at 9 p.m. on Monday and will open facilities at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Theater Under the Stars' administration offices will be closed on Tuesday and will re-open on Wednesday. The box office phone room however will remain open.
The Stafford Municipal School District in Fort Bend County will be closed on Tuesday and will resume operations on Wednesday.
The Daystar Christian Academy in Montgomery will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The ABC Academy LLC will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
The VA Medcial Center in Houston has canceled all morning appointments for Tuesday, Aug. 5, but all afternoon appointments will be kept. Meanwhile, the VA clinics in Texas City and Galveston will be closed the entire day on Tuesday.
Memorial Lutheran School's summer program and childcare closed on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
University of Phoenix – Houston Campus has cancelled classes at the Clear Lake Learning Center for Tuesday, August 5. Administrative offices, however, will open at 12:00 p.m. at the West Houston, Northwest, and West Loop locations on Tuesday. The City of Houston Municipal Courts will be closed on Tuesday, August 5. Individuals who have court settings will be given the opportunity to reset their case(s). Resets will be given in person, at any city of Houston location, beginning Wednesday, August 6, through Tuesday, August 12. Please check the Court’s website shown below for all Court locations. There will be NO jury service Tuesday, August 5. Individuals who are scheduled for jury service on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 will be rescheduled and will be notified by mail of their new date. Port of Houston will close at 8 p.m. Monday, August 4. That will affect all incoming and outgoing traffic.
Tottenberry’s Private School in Pearland will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Reliant Park will be closed Tuesday, August 5, 2008 and all events rescheduled.
Hitchcock ISD will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Texas Chiropractic College has cancelled all classes Tuesday, August 5.
UH main campus will be closed Tuesday, but will reopen for evening classes beginning at 5 p.m.
UH System at Sugar Land and the UH System at Cinco Ranch will be closed Tuesday and reopen Wednesday.
Deer Park ISD has canceled all activities for employees and students for Tuesday, August 5. Employees should return to work on Wednesday, August 6.
South Texas College of Law will be closed, the entire facility, on Tuesday, August 5. It will reopen Wednesday at normal times weather permitting.
FBISD is canceling all student activities for Tuesday, August 5. This includes all band practices, all athletic practices, all summer school activities and Extended Day Programs. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled on Tuesday, August 5.
HBU classes are cancelled and university offices will be closed Tuesday, August 5. Watch the University website at www.hbu.edu for updates.
Harris County Appraisal District will be closed Tuesday, August 5 and all hearings for that day will be postponed to a later date. If you have a hearing scheduled for August 5, you will receive a rescheduling notice in the mail. It is not necessary to contact HCAD. The district presently expects to reopen August 6, but call 713-957-7800 or check the www.hcad.org website for updates.
Warm Beginnings and More childcare center located in Mont Belvieu will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Kandiland Day School of Friendswood, South Shore Harbour, Shadow Creek, Pearland and Alvin will be closed Tuesday, August 5 with plans to open at normal hours Wednesday, August 6.
Klein ISD has cancelled all student activities and staff development and all campuses are closed for Tuesday, August 5.
Santa Fe ISD will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
HCC will be closed at 5 p.m. Monday, August 4. HCC will be closed and classes canceled for Tuesday, August 5. Students, faculty and staff are asked to check postings on the HCC Website ( www.hccs.edu) for reopening information.
TWU Institute of Health Sciences will be closed Tuesday, August 5. Classes will resume on Wednesday, August 6.
American International University has cancelled morning and evening classes Tuesday, August 5.
Spring ISD summer school classes and student activities have been canceled at this time. Spring ISD employees should stay tuned to local media and go online to www.springisd.org in case a decision is made to cancel work on Tuesday.
Galveston College closed Monday at 3 p.m. and evening classes cancelled. Galveston College will be closed Tuesday, August 5. It will reopen on Wednesday, August 6, at 7:30am.
Katy ISD has cancelled all required and extracurricular student activities and staff development activities for Tuesday, August 5. The district will implement a two-hour delay in start times for all other district activities and work schedules.
Harris County courts: All jury calls for Tuesday, August 5, have been cancelled. This cancellation will affect only those jurors summoned for service in state and county courts. Jurors who are currently serving on jury panels will receive instructions from the judges presiding over those cases.
Galveston ISD employees will be dismissed at 3 p.m. Monday. The district will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Texas A&M University at Galveston will be closed starting Monday at noon and will remain closed all day Tuesday. Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to monitor the campus website at www.tamug.edu as to when campus will re-open.
College of the Mainland has canceled evening classes. The College will close at 5 p.m. Monday and remain closed Tuesday, August 5. The College will reopen Wednesday morning, weather permitting.
Wharton County Junior College will cancel all of its classes and close all of its campuses, extension centers, and administrative offices on Tuesday, August 5. The college will reopen as scheduled on Wednesday, August 6. Students and employees are encouraged to check for updates posted on the college’s website at www.wcjc.edu.
La Marque ISD will be closed at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 4. Weather permitting, LMISD will reopen its doors on Wednesday, August 6 at 8:00 a.m.
La Porte ISD has cancelled all classes for Tuesday, August 5, Wednesday, August 6 and Thursday, August 7. Go to www.lpisd.org for the latest on rescheduled activities.
Pasadena ISD will close Monday, August 4 at 2 p.m. and remain closed Tuesday, August 5. All activities and events for Monday evening and all day Tuesday have been cancelled. If weather permits, the district will reopen Wednesday morning, August 6.
Humble ISD has canceled the following activities for Tuesday, August 5: Summer School, All Employee Professional Development Sessions, athletic activities, River Pines Elementary School Fifth Grade Science Camp and Early Head Start. Humble ISD offices are scheduled to be OPEN on Tuesday morning. Employees should plan to report to work. The Office Professional Inservice is now scheduled to be held on Wednesday, August 6, at Kingwood Park High School.
Spring ISD summer school classes and student activities will be canceled Tuesday, August 5. These cancellations include Spring ISD students who are involved in the accelerated college program at Lone Star College. Summer school classes and the accelerated college program at Lone Star have been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 6. Canceled student activities will be rescheduled on a later date. HISD Summer Leadership Institute: HISD has cancelled a “Summer Leadership Institute” conference with 3,000 school administrators and new teachers that had been planned for Tuesday at Reliant Center. HISD has also cancelled all student activities scheduled for Tuesday, August 5.
Channelview ISD is closing Tuesday, August 5, 2008 and will resume normal hours on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
Galena Park ISD will close all facilities at 2 p.m. Monday and remain closed Tuesday, August 5.
Primrose School of South Shore on 3025 Shore Blvd. in League City will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Alvin ISD campuses and offices will close at 2 p.m. Monday, August 4 and remain closed Tuesday, August 5.
Sheldon ISD has cancelled all student activities after 4 p.m. Monday, August 4, and for Tuesday, August 5. Reporting circumstances for employees will be updated on www.sheldonisd.com by 7 p.m. Monday.
UH-Clear Lake is closing at 3 p.m. Monday, August 4, and the UH main Campus is closing at 5 p.m. The Clear Lake campus will be closed Tuesday and plans to reopen Wednesday.
UH-Downtown will close at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2008. Evening classes are cancelled. UHD will remain closed Tuesday, August 5. On and off campus classes are cancelled. Online classes will continue to meet. UHD finals will now be held Thursday, August 7.
San Jacinto College will close at 5 p.m., Monday, August 4, and remain closed on Tuesday, August 5. All evening classes are also cancelledThe College will re-open at normal business hours on Wednesday, August 6.
TSU is closing its campus and suspending all classes as of 5 p.m. Monday, August. 4, and will reopen for normal business operation at 8 a.m., Wednesday, August 6.
Brazosport College will close at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 4 and reopen at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Monday evening classes are cancelled; Tuesday classes are cancelled all day.
Clear Creek ISD will close Monday, August 4, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. and will remain closed until Wednesday, August 6. All school, staff and student activities are to cease as of 2:30 p.m. Monday. Employees should report back to duty at the normal time on Wednesday.

The BP Westlake campus is closing Monday at 4 p.m. and will be closed on Tuesday.
Goose Creek CISD: Beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday August 4, Goose Creek CISD is canceling all of its activities, meetings, and work schedule until noon on Wed., Aug. 6. All facilities will be closed. Employees will report to work at noon on Wednesday, August 6.
Harris County Hospital District will close several services and locations on Tuesday, August 5. All day surgeries, elective surgeries, outpatient therapy, and specialty and outpatient clinic appointments will be canceled at both Ben Taub General Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospitals.
The Texas City and Galveston VA Clinics will close on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Patients with scheduled appointments at these clinics will be contacted and rescheduled as soon as possible. Veterans affected by this cancellation who need medical advice should call the VA Telecare Center at (713) 794-8985 or toll-free 1-800-639-5137. Registered nurses, pharmacists, and administrative clerks at the VA Telecare Center are ready to answer veteran health care questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The VA Telecare Center is not for life-threatening emergencies. Veterans with life-threatening emergencies should immediately call 911. All other area VA medical facilities, including the Houston medical center and outpatient clinics in Beaumont, Conroe, and Lufkin, will be open for regular operations on August 5.
Quentin Mease Community Hospital is cancelling all outpatient services and physical and occupational therapy. All of the district’s Community Health Program including neighborhood health centers, school-based clinics and homeless shelter clinics will be closed. All locations and services throughout the Harris County Hospital District will resume at 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, depending on the storm’s impact on the community.
Texas City ISD has canceled school and is closing all its offices. Registration for Tuesday, August 5, 2008 is also canceled. Pre-Kindergarten at Heights will register Wednesday, August 6, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, August 8, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Kindergarten through Grade 8 – Register at your school on Monday, August 4, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 9th Grade Students – Register at TCHS Monday, August 4, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 11th & 12th Grade Students register Wednesday, August 6, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 10th Grade Students and Open Session - Thursday, August 7; 10 th Grade Students 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; New TCHS Students Friday, August 8, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. District officials anticipate that Wednesday will be a normal work day.
Fair Haven Methodist Day School will be closed on Tuesday, August 5.
Memorial Childcare Center will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
KIPP Schools will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
First Baptist Academy Primary School will be closed, and all student activities cancelled on Tuesday, August 5.
Ascension Episcopal Early Childhood Program and Summer Camp will be closed Tuesday, August 5.
Alvin Community College will close at 5 p.m. Monday, August 4, through Wednesday, August 6. Classes and activities have been canceled for Monday evening and all day Tuesday, August 5. Classes will resume Wednesday, August 6, unless otherwise notified. Visit www.school_closings.net or www.alvincollege.edu to monitor the college’s status.
Johnson Space Center is closing at noon Monday and will remain closed all day Tuesday.
All Houston Area Kidventure Camps locations will be closed Tuesday August 5.
All City of Friendswood offices will be closed on Tuesday, August 5. This closure will include Municipal Court. At this time, all offices are expected to reopen during normal business hours on Wednesday, August 6. The City’s Emergency Operations Center will be fully operational beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, and emergency personnel will be on duty.
Shell Oil employees are leaving the office after 3 p.m. Monday and will be off Tuesday.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is closing all of its facilities Tuesday, August 5. Normal operating hours will resume Wednesday, August 6.
Sylvan Learning in Pasadena will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 5.
ITT Technical Institute Webster Campus has cancelled all classes for Monday, August 4 and all classes for Tuesday, August 5. Classes will resume on Wednesday morning.
Harris County Constable Precinct 6 National Night Out - Pct. 6 Constable Victor Trevino has announced that the National Night Out event scheduled for Tuesday, August 5 at Diez Park has been rescheduled.
Victoria Osteen pre-trial and jury selection date rescheduled for August 6.
Miller Outdoor Theatre cancels performance for Tuesday, August 5.
Opening night for "Tuna Does Vegas" at Galveston’s Grand 1894 Opera House has been postponed until Wednesday evening, August 6, at 8pm.
