Child drowns at apartment pool party

HOUSTON -- A pool party turned tragic Tuesday night when a 3-year-old boy fell into a pool and drowned.
It happened at an apartment complex in southwest Houston around 10 p.m.
Witnesses said there were about 20 people at the pool for the party, but no one noticed the child fall in.
When his family started looking for him some time later, some other children pointed him out beneath the water.
Houston firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately began CPR.
Tragically, it was too late.
The child was rushed to Memorial Hermann, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide investigators are looking into the incident.
The CDC estimates children under the age of 14 account for one in four drownings.
