Soggy day ahead for Houston area
04:38 PM CDT on Thursday, July 24, 2008
HOUSTON -- Houston woke up to rain Thursday morning, setting the tone for what will likely be a soggy day.
“We’re going to get rained on. It’s raining everywhere. It’s a dark and stormy morning in Southeast Texas,” Paul said.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Calhoun, Colorado, Jackson, Matagorda and Wharton counties, effective until 6 p.m. Thursday.
And while South Texas deals with flooding from the remnants of Dolly, Paul says the Houston area doesn’t need to worry about that.
“We don’t have a flood watch or warning, we’re just going to see heavy rain move through from time to time,” Paul said.
But it’s not going to last.
Paul said as the weekend begins, rain chances move down to 20 percent and the mercury will rise.
Expect hot, humid weather with temps in the high 90s.
Both Hobby Airport and Bush Intercontinental Airport are experiencing delays because of the weather.
Bush Intercontinental officials say that some flights are delayed between 30 and 45 minutes.
Flights at Hobby, officials say, are delayed about 15 minutes or less.
