HOUSTON -- A 15-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed his brother to death as the pair fought over a video game, has been charged with murder. The senseless death shocked the apartment complex where the siblings live.

“It's sad. It's really sad,” said neighbor Hazel Taylor. “I hope it teaches the rest of the kids, that (there) shouldn't be all this fighting.

“And they need to pray.”

Police said on Wednesday afternoon, Robert Benton, 17, and his 15-year-old brother started fighting at their Parker Square Apartments in the 10300 block of Shady Lane. During the quarrel, the younger brother raised a knife and stabbed his brother in the stomach, said police. Benton died at the hospital Wednesday night.

“I don't think he was trying to make what happened to him,” said family friend Terrell Washington. “He wasn't trying to kill him. But I guess that's how it happened.”

There are plenty of prayers in the community offered for both brothers. Both lost to an afternoon argument that no one seems to be able to understand.

Among those mourning at a small makeshift memorial was 14-year-old Demetrae Washington. With tears in his eyes, at his friend's front door, he was feeling guilt that his friend had died.

“Because I was always over at their house and the day he died, I wasn't over there,” said Washington. “I feel like if I was over there, I would have prevented it.

“You know, brothers always fight. So, you know. I don't know what happened.”
