HOUSTON -- Everyone wants to talk to Marche Taylor.

“Everybody was asking me about Dr. Phil and I was like, I didn't know what y'all are talking about,” Taylor said. However, when she listened to her voice mail: "My name is Christie Synder and I'm calling from the Dr. Phil show," was the message left.

Taylor is the 17-year-old Madison High School senior whose skimpy prom dress got her barred from her high school prom. She was escorted out of the prom in handcuffs after arguing with school officials who wouldn't let her in.

Taylor's story captured the attention of media outlets across the nation. It has been the No. 1 story on both KHOU.com and CNN.com for nearly a week now, bringing Marche Taylor more attention than she wanted.

She was even the butt of a joke by the Tonight Show’s Jay Leno.

"And a teenage girl in Houston who was asked to leave her prom because her dress was too skimpy, refused to leave. Cops took her out in handcuffs. Took her out in handcuffs.

“Boy was her date, Roger Clemens, furious," Leno said.

Marche Taylor, left, is shown with a friend in the lobby of the hotel where the Madison High School prom was held.

Now she is shying away from some of the media.

“I'm not going to say I'm enjoying it because some people are taking it overboard,” Taylor said.

That includes the negative comments posted on the Internet.

Some people, she said, have been cruel and mean. And she tells us all she wanted was for her voice to be heard.

“This is not about my dress. I just want my money back,” said Taylor.

The public cannot get enough of the story. And the biggest question on the Internet:  Where is her mom?

“I don't stay with her. My mama doesn't have anything to do with this,” said Taylor, who lives with her grandmother.

The first time 11 News spoke with Taylor, she showed us the dress she hoped to show off at her prom.

She never dreamed the whole world would be watching.
