GALVESTON — He followed her from a nightclub then gunned her down in the street, police allege.

Bobby Lee Jones, 43, of La Marque, remained in jail Monday charged with the murder of Felicia Scott, 32, of Webster.

The two were acquainted, but it’s not clear how they knew each other, said Galveston police Lt. D.J. Alvarez.

The woman left Club D’Elegance, 2918 Ave. R ½, early Monday morning with an acquaintance in his 1995 Lincoln Town Car, according to police reports.

Jones followed her to 35th Street and Avenue H and rammed the car, causing it crash, police reports state.

Witnesses said Jones then fired two or three shots at the car, Alvarez said. One struck Scott, but two others in the car were unharmed, Alvarez said.

Scott, who was found lying in the street about 1:50 a.m., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police immediately broadcast a description of Jones’ 2004 Yukon and found him shortly afterward headed north on the causeway, Alvarez said. A pistol was found in his car, he said.

Jones has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted aggravated assault by a deadly weapon. He was jailed on $375,000 bond.

The police department would not release an audio recording of the 911 call because of an ongoing investigation.
