Driver accused in Art Car Museum curator's death charged

10:33 AM CDT on Monday, May 12, 2008

KHOU.com staff report

HOUSTON— Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal accident at 140 Heights Boulevard about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday.

The curator of the Art Car Museum was killed.

Thomas Jones, 51, was sitting on the curb in front of an illegally parked vehicle at the museum when, police say, Dustin Allen Poe, 24, slammed into the back of the stationary car.

The car plowed into Jones, who was sitting with a group of people, and pinned him beneath it.

He was taken to Ben Taub, where he died.

Poe was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Workers at the museum said Jones was an irreplaceable part of their organization, and that he will be missed.
