HOUSTON -- A Houston oil executive whose ex-wife is married to one of President Bush’s brothers has been granted probation after pleading guilty to a drug possession charge following the death of a stripper who overdosed on cocaine at his townhouse.

Robert Pace Andrews, 52, was placed on two years’ deferred adjudication on Monday. That means he will not have a conviction on his record if he successfully complies with the terms of his probation.

Andrews pleaded guilty to possession of less than a gram of cocaine. According to the terms of the plea agreement reached with prosecutors, he must pay a $2,000 fine, perform 80 hours of community service, submit to drug and alcohol counseling and undergo random urinalysis.

He also cannot make any business trips overseas without the judge’s approval, the Houston Chronicle reported in its Tuesday editions.

Andrews — owner, president and CEO of Houston-based Andrews Technologies Inc., a provider and contractor to the oil industry — declined to say anything before the judge sentenced him and later declined to comment to the Chronicle.

His ex-wife, Maria Bush, is married to Neil Bush, a brother of President Bush. In 2003, Andrews sued Sharon Bush — Neil Bush’s ex-wife — alleging slander and claiming she suggested Neil Bush was the biological father of Andrews’ youngest son. Sharon Bush denied the allegation, and a judge later dismissed the lawsuit. DNA tests proved the boy was Andrews’ son.

On Nov. 2, Andrews called 911 to report that a guest at his townhome became unconscious after ingesting cocaine. Jessica Lynn Cloud, 19, a dancer at Centerfold’s nightclub, died the next day at a hospital. An autopsy found she died from complications of acute cocaine intoxication and her death was ruled an accident.

Houston police found less than a gram of cocaine, about a gram of marijuana and an unknown quantity of Xanax at Andrews’ townhouse after he allowed them to search it, records show.

A drug dog alerted police to a spoon in a bathroom drawer that tested positive for a trace amount of cocaine, a criminal complaint shows.

Another Centerfold’s employee was visiting Andrews’ townhome at the time but was not charged with any wrongdoing.
