HUMBLE, Texas -- Harris County Sheriff’s investigators are looking for a suspect who possibly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old and attempted to abduct a 9-year-old Monday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office said both girls had been dropped off at the same northeast Harris County bus stop after school Monday.
Deputies first responded to the report of the attempted abduction of a 9-year-old girl. The girl told authorities that she was walking home from the school bus drop-off point at Logan Falls Lane and Jackson Creek Bend when a man attempted to entice her to get into his car.
The girl instead ran home and reported the attempted abduction.
While investigators were at that girl’s home, the sheriff’s office got the call about a missing 7-year-old girl who had been on the same school bus. She told police the suspect told her that her mother was not home and that he was supposed to pick her up. Deputies said she got in the car, and the man drove her to several locations before dropping her off some 20 miles away in Baytown, where the girl went into the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center
Both girls attend Summerwood Elementary School in the Humble ISD, school district officials confirmed.
